Job Description
CCI Speer is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety Intern for 2024.
This is a temporary position lasting no longer than 6 months.
This position provides technical support to safety engineers, environmental supervisor, environmental engineer, and the EHS manager as directed.
Performs various sampling and testing as directed by EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) manager.
Assists EHS team with ensuring site compliance with internal and external regulations and requirements.
The position will be mostly day shift but will require flexibility to work any shift to accommodate necessary testing and other responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidate must be enrolled in a degree seeking program or technical school.
Excellent organizational, communication, project management and teamwork skills
Cumulative GPA of 2.
8 or higher
Be a US person
Ability to work 40 hours (full time) during summer 2024
Must have valid driver’s license.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
Understanding and application of general environmental and safety regulations, standards, principles, theories, and techniques.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
Must know or learn Microsoft Access.
Excellent mathematical skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Understanding of basic chemistry.
Excellent communicator and outstanding organizational skills.
Must be willing and able to work in hazardous environments to include direct work with explosives.
Physical Requirements: Employee will be walking, crouching, reaching and may need to climb ladders or enter confined areas to perform duties of job.
Must be able to be standing or walking for long periods of time.
Some office work will be required.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
and carry short distances, no more than 100 yards.
Work will be a mixture of indoors in various manufacturing environments to include explosives manufacturing as well as work outdoors.
Some work may require working at heights to include rooftops and water towers.
Some local travel will be required.
Manual dexterity for extensive computer work and writing.
Hearing, speaking, and vision are required (with or without correction).
Mental Requirements: Must communicate effectively in verbal and written formats.
Reading comprehension and basic math skills are a requirement.
Flexibility to effectively deal with a variety of people and situations and to handle interruptions and multiple tasks simultaneously.
Quick thinking and problem solving to readily assimilate information.
Ability to maintain tact and highly professional manners.
Initiative to effectively complete tasks with little supervision.
The ability to identify and appropriately handle confidential information.
Working Environment: Work is done in an office environment, with time spent in the manufacturing plant.
This exposure subjects incumbents to temperature changes, dirt, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects and mechanical parts, machine tool lubricant mists, equipment and explosive hazards.
