Coordinates Patient Assistance Program in the outpatient clinic setting for prescription and other identified programs.
The Patient Assistance Program works with the clinic medical staff, nursing staff, patients and pharmacologic companies to ensure patients receive assistance and medications in a timely, efficient manner.
Regularly interacts with patients and use their personal financial, insurance and medical information to identify appropriate drug assistance programs offered by the pharmaceutical industry and to determine the patient’s eligibility for identified programs.
Evaluates information for relevance, accuracy and completeness in to maximally benefit patient’s specific circumstances.
Essential Job Functions:
Follows established protocols to prepare outpatient refills for provider sign off.
Performs department core and job specific clinical competencies.
Coordinates all aspects of the patient prescription financial assistance program including timely communication with providers, nursing staff, patients and pharmaceutical companies.
Responsible to support the achievement of high patient satisfaction within the clinics.
Collaborates with providers and nursing staff to ensure patients receive timely and accurate refills.
Coordinates all aspects of prescription patient financial assistance program; coordinates between providers, nursing staff and pharmacologic companies.
Collects patient-specific information related to their personal finances, healthcare insurance (including unexercised options), and prescription medication needs.
Identifies appropriate medication assistance options for patient circumstances.
Reviews patient and drug applications/information for submission.
Effectively monitors submission processes for timely follow up and processing.
Submits requests on behalf of the patient and coordinates distribution of medications.
Enters accurate patient-specific information into the EMR.
Assists clinical nursing staff with outpatient prescription medication prior authorizations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited program in Certified Medical Assisting preferred.
1-3 years previous experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
Medication and medical terminology knowledge.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Work Environment:
Mary’s and Clearwater Health operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients.
Mary’s and Clearwater Health Clinic locations have operation hours based on locations and patient needs therefore availability to work all clinic shifts, weekends and holidays as appropriate for location will be expected and required.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
Physical Requirements:
Majority of shift spent sitting.

Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone.
Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.
