Approximately two hours away from Clearwater Paper’s headquarters in Spokane, Washington, the Lewiston paper mill is a key component in Clearwater Paper’s business strategy.

What you will do: Employee and Benefits Administration Acts as a resource for salaried and flat rate employees in the areas of benefits administration and payroll issues.
Coordinates employee benefits with Corporate Benefits Department and third-party administrators including health care, life insurance, and retirement benefits.
Processes changes and maintains data in payroll and human resources system.
Counsels with employees for retirement and benefit options.
Communicates Human Resource policy, practices, and procedures to all employees, as needed.
Recruiting and Onboarding Recruits hourly employees consistent with company standards and compliance obligations including posting job descriptions, screening applications, facilitating, and participating in panel interviews, preparing compensation offers.
Updates application system as necessary.
Prepares position descriptions reflecting pertinent responsibilities, activities, and requirements.
Facilitates pre-employment screening for hourly and salaried new hires including pre-employment tests and coordination of background and reference checks.
Places employment advertisements and analyzes reports and trends.
Schedules assessments and interviews.
Participates in local job fairs.
Supports internship program.
Assists in hourly and salaried new hire orientations and provides training and guidance to hiring managers and employees on policies, process, and regulatory issues.
Assists with facilitating overall company orientation Payroll and Compliance Assists site supervisors and managers on Kronos WFD.
Assists with payroll process and cross-trains to serve as back up to Payroll Coordinator as appropriate.
Assists with processing manual checks when necessary.
Interfaces with corporate payroll and HRIS department as appropriate Supports DEI initiatives.
Supports efforts to comply with and document regulations on Equal Employment Opportunities, Affirmative Action, Family Medical Leave Act, HIPPA, Americans with Disabilities Act and Sarbanes Oxley.
Maintains employee personnel files.

What you will need: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business or related field or equivalent experience required.
Minimum 2 years’ professional Human Resources experience in a support role required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to prepare written materials and correspondence.
Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and working knowledge of Human Resource Information System and payroll system.
Must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Experience with Kronos and UKG – UltiPro preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people, mediate, persuade, and influence managers at all levels.
Must possess sound confrontation skills.
Demonstrate understanding of the Fair Labor Standards Act and National Labor Relations Act.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Intermediate skill level in the use of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Experience with payroll and time and attendance software.

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience among other factors.

Paid time off will include vacation days, personal days, and company holidays.
